Fantasia cromatica , BWV 903, for Viola

In his late twenties Atar Arad discovered his love for the viola and decided to devote himself to this instrument. Zoltán Kodály's adaptation of the «Fantasia Cromatica» (BWV 903) was an important part of his development. The viola, a master of melancholy, elegy and darkness, should also be able to shimmer and irritate. The present arrangement of the «Fantasia Cromatica» wants to remain as close as possible to Bach's original. It is a real enrichment for the solo repertoire of the viola at an advanced level of difficulty.
