Walter Kaufmann was a Czech composer and conductor. He studied in Prague and Berlin. During WW2, he fled from the Nazi regime. His long journey led him to Bombay, London, Canada, and eventually to the USA. Kaufmann's compositional oeuvre includes 16 operas, 3 ballets, as well as countless works for orchestra and chamber ensemble.
